Title: Santa Ana (film stills)
Materials: Video

Description:Santa Ana (2026) is a film exploring the cultural mythology and psychological force of the Santa Ana winds in Southern California. Filmed in the Anza-Borrego Desert, the work follows a masked figure performing increasingly obsessive actions inspired by the archetype of the American cowboy. Drawing from Western cinema and histories of settlement, the film examines ideas of territory, conquest, and land possession through symbolic gestures such as staking the ground. Combining performance, sculpture, and environmental research, the film unitizes the desert as a charged landscape where fiction, history, and natural forces become inseparable
