Title: Thrust Weigh Drag Lift (Flight)
Description: On the morning of October 29th, the project Thrust Weight Drag Lift reached its completion with a "test flight" in the desert near San Diego. The airplane was made of basswood and fabric. It was created by scanning a 1:16-scale balsa model kit, resizing the parts using an overhead projector and homemade registration scales in order to re-engineer the full 1:1 scale airplane that the model was based on. Once the airplane reached 23 mph, it lifted off and flew for10 seconds before the towlines snapped and the airplane crashed.
